Keep the Heat On exceeds $10,000
PROVIDENCE - Bishop Thomas J. Tobin’s ‘Keep the Heat On’ Challenge raised more than $10,000 in the first week, suggesting that many people realize how difficult it will be for many to heart their homes this winter.
A $5,000 donation was received from the Mother Teresa Society of St. Augustine Parish, Providence. Father Barry R. L. Connerton, pastor, said he hopes that the parish’s gift will serve as a challenge to others.
“Our parishioners give to the Mother Teresa Society to assist our own parishioners we know who are in need, and our neighbors we do not know who may be experiencing difficulties,” said Father Connerton.
Donations to the ‘Keep the Heat On’ Challenge will be published in the Providence Visitor unless the donor expresses a desire to remain anonymous. The figures published in this issue are incomplete because of the inability to contact all donors for their permission to publish their names.
